Portia
feels broken-hearted because it seems that Bassanio give her the ring without hesitation.
Wherein the ring symbolizes their eternal love for each other and they promise
that they will never remove it from their finger even if anything bad happens.
But Bassanio broke the promise and didn’t think about the consequences that may
result to their relationship. Portia also lessen her trust to Bassanio because
wearing their rings is one of her test to know if Bassanio really love her.
Bassanio is quite calm because he knew that Portia will listen to his explanation of what happen to the ring. He knows that Portia will understand why he did it. And he thinks that love will still be the solution whenever they will have a fight.
