I am Juliet…

“Romeo and Juliet” is one of the most inspiring sonnets of all times. It is about the love story of a couple with their rival families. Their love affair is secret because of the feud between their families. But the couples still fight for their love, reason for the families to reconcile even if it was too late.

If I were Juliet, I will probably end up my story into a happy ending. Every woman and story should be in a happy ending. I would want our families to reconcile and forgive each other’s sin. Though it is hard at first, Romeo and I will show them what really love is. For I know that love is the greatest gift one can afford.

I wanted my story to go this way – “I am Juliet and my prince charming is Romeo. Though our relationship is a sin for our parents’ rivalry, we still fight for our love. We secretly meet in a place where only the few of us know. But fate made trick on us, our parents found our hidden understanding. They took away Romeo from me but they didn’t know that I got his cellphone number. Then we texted and called each other every time that we are alone in our own room, saying how we miss each other and praying for the day to see each other soon. We also chat in our facebook account. Until we decided to meet and elope for the continuation of our love. Then years had passed before we come back again. We had brought a cute and smart baby boy named Roman Julian. Our family forgive us and promise that they will open their minds for us. After 48 years, Romeo and I were confined in one of the best hospitals in Mantua, due to oldness. While our son Roman Julian had his own family – Elia, his wife and Julia, their lovely daughter. A heartware/pacemaker was the only thing keeping us alive. Until Romeo and I decided to give up and face the truth that we should already be with God. Immediately, we talked to our son and told him what we had planned. On our golden anniversary, we turned off each others heartware/pacemaker at the balcony where we had confessed our feelings to each other. Even if we are gone, our son continued our clan and he even had a dozen of babies with Elia.”

Happy or sad, still the lesson it gives is the most important one. A story has its own reason why it should be read or seen. What a story offers are not that necessary but what the whole story is all about that matters. In “Romeo and Juliet” thought in sad ending, still there are morals that it gives.
